Paris 1919 [re-issue] - John Cale [1973]


Stately and abiding eccentricities notwithstanding, Cale's most beautifully accessible opus. Arguably, his chef d'oeuvre. Burned out, nostalgic and dislocated; literary and geographical allusions to loss and wandering. Ugliness crystallised as candy.


Re-issue offers essential alternates and outtakes: two Paris 1919 mixes for strings and piano? Hanky Panky Nohow drone mix? C'mon...
