Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven - Godspeed You Black Emperor

A windfall for any fan of ambient pop, orchestral rock, space rock, or simply lush "kitchen sink" arrangements. Trademark structure present and correct - start out sparse and slow, build, build, build, crescendo - though in less predictable configurations than earlier releases. Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is loaded with dynamics, unexpected sections, strong emotions and beauty.

I used to have this and can't think what happened to it other than it was one of those that got lost in the flood a few years back and I never bothered replacing. Can't say I ever got on with it and it may be that the idea of Godspeed and their ilk is more appealing than what they actually do. But I'm keen to give most things a second chance but who knows. And I bet their AIP weekend will be a corker.

Start with second disc - well worth a second chance.

And don't think that Alan Stivell great lost album missive went unnoticed.

Merde

I was gonna put your name against that one (you don't happen to have a copy do you? although I have pieced most of it together through various comps)

A Fantastic album, I always point people to 'F# A# Infinity' for their 1st introduction to GYBE!
Fabulous live act, 2 and a half hours of unbroken wall of post-rock sound all to their own made 35mm films projected up on the recent tour. Always come back to them, great band without the usual rock star attitude...no ''come on clap along'', in fact not a word! Just the odd smile to folk in the audience and a thank you wave to the audience at the end. Total sold out shows on the tour from a band that won't ever sell out artistically...They do it all themselves, no corporate stuff here... Beautiful stuff...
PS don't know who did this write up on wiki but worth a read, (GYBE! don't usually court the media...)

Ah, Steve Hillage. Now there's a thought.

Love Hillage's output since Gong to System 7, fabulously spacey.
