The Payback - James Brown

Eno:
There were three great beats in the '70s: Fela Kuti's Afrobeat, James Brown's funk and Klaus Dinger's NEU!-beat.

Not heard this one but it's always puzzled me how JB was able to forge a 50 year career out of two songs recycled ad nauseum (three if you count Living In America), In that sense, then, he, Van the Man and Noel Gallagher, all separated at birth?

i'll get me pomade...

None of that tiresome "get on uppah..." stuff here. Slow, repetitive hypnotic grooves. Tasty.

The late great JB. Few can resist a chuckle at the thought of the coked-up Godfather of Soul, shortie dressing gown flapping around his septugenerian nether regions, standing in the street firing off a few rounds in the direction of his speedily departing much abused wife. A great bloke to work for too by all accounts

I believe it was PCP wot did it. Far more metnally deranging than coke.
